While Banff has been recognized as an international luxury destination, Jasper, its less polished sister 300 Km north,
is known for its wilderness, harsh terrain, strange (or "maligne" in French) landforms and abundant wildlife.
In contrast to Banff, which, with its iconic Fairmont Banff Spring Hotel and the picturesque Lake Louise nearby,
offers a large selection of lodging, a myriad of recreational opportunities, easy access to spectacular view sites,
and world class shopping and dining, Jasper is frequented by day hikers and backpackers, a heaven for nature lovers.
My only regret about my trip to Jasper is that I was not able to visit its most fascinating sites, Lake Maligne and Medicine Lake, because of rock slide.
Well, there is always a second time.
