Have you heard of the giant Amerian poet Whitman (first name may be Paul?), and Thuroll (I can't remember his last name exact spelling, wine factor, oh well...)?........
Z-far, the giant American poet, you meant Walt Whitman, right? To be honest, I know nothing about poetry, neither English nor Chinese. I remembered in the old days when I read those Chinese classic novels, Jouney To the West(西游记), Romance of the Three Kingdons(三国演义), All Men Are Brothers(水浒传) and others as a boy, I always skipped the poems because I was more interesting in the stories. Although I did not see any obvious connection between Whitman to Walden Pond, Henry David Thoreau, a great American writer of the same era (19th century) was known as Walden Writer. Thoreau was born 1817 (two years older than Walt Whitman) at Concord, Mass. He built his house in the woodland of Walden Pond, where he wrote his first book, A Week on the Concord and Merrimack River.
BigPaul,
You amaze me, your intellects. Thanks for all the corrections. I never claim, or dare to think, that I am any smarter than you. We are different, as we should, among all of us, Class78, and beyound (Yes, we share different school, besides Class78)...
Still, the profound notion of living life to the fullest, individuality vs conformist..., the very essence of Whitman/Thereau... was not conveyed to Class78. Well, what can I say, I was only exposed to their poetry by way of a movie, "the Dead Poet Society", and I still explore my daily journey in that respect...
Let's examine this when we are in our 60's. At the moment, we all have our other pressing issues to deal with...thank you, you are the wind beneath my wind...
